After
Sander's death, memorial services have been held in several places around the world: in Darwin (Australia),
to where his body was transported by Interfet the day after
his death; in Enschede (The Netherlands), where Sander was cremated; in Jakarta (Indonesia),
where he had been living for the past two years; in London (United Kingdom),
home to his employer the Financial Times, and in Almaty (Kazakhstan), where he also worked as a foreign correspondent. Three years after his death, a small monument was placed near the place where it happened in Dili (East Timor).
Here
you can find some impressions of those memorial services.
For
all those who were not able to attend;
for all those who attended and who wish to keep the memory
alive.
